Parkwood High School opened on Tortice Drive in 1979. In 1990 it was rebadged as a secondary college, and the school grounds were significantly enlarged in 2000 and again in 2009. However, declining enrolments led to the School Council voting to close their school at the end of 2012, with the 300 students forced to look elsewhere. Maroondah Council then acquired the site to relocate the North Ringwood Community House.

Furthermore

Most of the school buildings were demolished, but there was still room for many organisations in the Parkwood Community Hub. While the North Ringwood Community House is the most prominent tenant, there are others: Maroondah Toy Library, Ringwood Men’s Shed, U3A Ringwood, and Penumbra Centre.
